September marks the beginning of our transition into fall fishing here in Ponce Inlet, and with it comes one of the most exciting times of the year: the mullet run. As schools of mullet begin moving through our waters, the action picks up and our hunt for trophy bull redfish begins.
Around the jetties, anglers can expect opportunities for bull reds, big snook, and tarpon feeding heavily during the fall migration. Live mullet, croakers, pinfish, crabs, and larger artificial lures are all great options for targeting these bigger fish.
In the backwaters, creeks, and surrounding inshore areas, we’ll continue targeting slot-size redfish, smaller snook, mangrove snapper, and speckled trout. These areas can provide steady action and are a great option for anglers looking for a variety of species.
September is an exciting month on the water, with cooler-season patterns beginning to develop and some of the biggest fish of the year starting to show up. The fall bite is just getting started!
