Mark your calendars for the Second Annual South Coast SummerFest, June 13-22 : kicking off with the SummerFest Mayor’s Cup and concluding with the Strawberry Moon Race. Festival organizers are preparing for a 10 day celebration of paddle sports – Mississippi Style! Each coastal community from Bay St. Louis to Pascagoula is unique – each coastal waterway is distinctive and irreplaceable – this festival offers kayak adventures for all ages and all levels of experience: summer fun for the whole family. www.southcoastsummerfest.com
In addition to specialty tours, which are ticketed events, on the beautiful waterways of the lower Wolf River, the Jourdan River, Kreb’s Lake, Tchoutacabouffa River, Arcadia Bayou, Fort Bayou, Biloxi Beach, Buccaneer State Park, Caswell Lake, Lang’s Bayou, and Ocean Springs Front Beach, communities will also be sponsoring a variety of kayak/paddle sport demos and kayak fishing and rigging demos, and Mainstreet/beach celebrations for kayakers, residents and visitors. Come out and enjoy the music, the food and the summer fun. Throughout the 10-day festival the Biloxi Visitor Center will be the host of The REEL FILM Festival, a series of short film presentations and on- site registration for the festival. Participants, who register, either on site or on the website, will receive a festival bag containing a SummerFest commemorative T-shirt, a festival kayak sticker, discount coupons, a wristband and a Passport Program card entitling the participant to earn prizes and additional promotional items. This year’s grand prize is a Jackson Riviera kayak sponsored by Everything Kayak.

What do Kayakers and SummerFest have in common? Both want beautiful waterways to enjoy while paddling along with nature’s bountiful scenery, birds, wildlife and habitats. All proceeds from Summerfest are donated to Mississippi Wildlife Federation for their clean water and habitat programs. www.MSwildlife.com
