The wind is finally backing off and the summer weather pattern has started. Hot days and afternoon storms are the norm and big fish are all around.
In saltwater, bait is easy to find. Sardines, pilchards, and mullet are on the inside and outside while the predators are close behind. Snook and tarpon will both be cruising the beaches, not like the late summer numbers, but they are there. Plenty of snook will be on the docks and bridges. They make great night time targets on artificial and fly. Another option is near shore for bonitos, blackfin tuna, and kingfish. Free lined live baits will keep you busy with fish all morning.
The fishing on the Lake Osborne chain is going to be the best early and late because the midday heat can really slow the bite down. Low light, top water frog fishing should be productive for bass and snakeheads. Once the sun gets high, skipping unweighted flukes under docks will get you tight with bass and peacocks.
Good luck out there!
