South Eleuthera Dive Forecast – August 2011

South Eleuthera in August means no more wetsuits…hoooray!

What an amazing month for diving South Eleuthera! The majority of the spring and early summer crowds are dying down, meaning you will almost always have the dive site to yourself. The warm water of August translates to NO MORE WETSUITS…hooray! The water temperature is 84-to-86 degrees on the surface, and 82-to-84 degrees at depth. The eagle rays are a common site, cruising at 60 feet-to-80 feet (or wherever the temperature change is) along the edge of the wall. The afternoon showers are becoming more regular, so morning dives are certainly suggested as a preferred option in August. So grab some Nitrox tanks, and enjoy even more bottom time than usual in August, because conditions are as close to perfect as they get.
