South Eleuthera Fishing Forecast – July 2011

Chantel Gustave helped land this 60 pound grouper.

Billfish are still being caught and released off of the nearby “Bridge” at the southern end of Eleuthera. Good numbers of dolphin and tuna also reported off our nearby Cape Eleuthera Pocket and Tommy Point further to our east. Serious sport fishermen are enjoying excellent fishing off Cat Island’s north eastern offshore sea mounts.

Of course, fishing the bottom and walls of Eleuthera are always hot producing large numbers of yellowtail snapper, mutton snapper, which are just now spawning, and large redfish when deep dropping.

The best bite for yellowtail snapper may be in Tommy’s Sound. The fish should be averaging 4-to-5 pounds. A good technique for grouper is to use a small yellowtail with a circle hook attached to the back. Lots of Cero mackerel are around as well and you just may want to grab a few for marlin bait.

Fishing is hot in South Eleuthera so come on down for some “off the chain” fishing adventures!
