Exciting times ahead for the south end of Eleuthera. Water temperature has been running around 86° to 87° so fishing has been tough. Even the fish are looking for cooler temperatures! Finding cool water temperature will produce more fish. Look for cooler upwellings around ledges and walls.

Blackfin tuna and yellowfin are still in the area as well as stray dolphin (mahi-mahi). They are big and not schoolies. Mackerel are still plentiful and more bait is showing up during the afternoons. We are looking forward to September—the days are shorter and water temperatures begin to cool. We will then see the return of the diverse pelagic species over the next couple of month months.

On the bottom fishing scene, yellowtail snapper are running 18 to 21 inches and some around 3 pounds.

September is definitely a transition month in South Eleuthera area. We are looking forward to the change of season. Tight lines!
