Hello fishing fanatics! April is upon us and the fishing should be red hot. More dolphins (mahi-mahi) should be showing up with the water temperature on the rise and bait moving into the area.
White and blue marlin are being spotted more frequently. Look around the large schools of skipjack and black fin tuna and you will find marlin. Wahoo are still in the area but spotty. If you are lucky enough to hook into one, be ready for it to be big because the season is coming to an end. Yellow fin and black fin are being caught more and more as the season progresses. If you are looking for monster tuna you will need to make the run around the light house and head out 8 miles into the Atlantic and look for birds and weeds. Having a live well full of bull pilchards would help.
When the pelagic are not biting you can have a lot of fun trolling over the sand and reef to see what kind of mixed bag you can get. We have had success (grouper snapper and big mutton) with naked ballyhoo or red bullet head skirt with red feathers.
Tight lines to all and remember, you cannot catch anything if you are not on the water.
