South Eleuthera Offshore Fishing Forecast – April 2011

For every angler fishing south Eleuthera over the next couple of months, I would like to say, “I hope you have plenty of line on those big reels because the BIG fish are back”! April is the month of 100 pound wahoo and 85 pound yellowfin tuna. Fish has become the local currency around south Eleuthera and it seems like everyone has deep pockets. The sailfish bite seems to be getting stronger, especially around Bamboo Point. The “tuna birds” are being spotted 5 to 10 miles offshore during the day, and all along the drop off during the evening. For best results, get your bait as deep as you can while trolling. The blue marlin bite is only consistent at the “Bridge” but out 10-to-15 miles from any of south Eleuthera’s marinas (not too far to go), you’ll find some incredible action.
