Few kayak fishing accessories are as transformative for those who fish shallow water than the Power-Pole Micro Anchor self-deploying stake-out pole. The ability to stop on a dime, virtually hands-free, makes fishing trips much more productive according to Hobie Fishing Team member Thad Day, of Florida.
“When poling across a flat, and having a fish pop up right in front of you or when approaching a school of fish, you generally only have a second or two to react. Being able to stop before spooking fish and having a chance to set up for a good cast rather than fumbling an anchor or risking a stake-out pole not sticking in the hard bottom is key and all it takes with the Micro is two clicks on the remote,” he said.
With the Power-Pole Micro Anchor, Day is able to thoroughly fish an area despite wind or current. And when he’s hooked up, it makes a difference. “I can drop the pin, preventing the fish from pulling me into more fish or structure,” he said.
Day’s friend and fellow competitive kayak angler Brandon Barton is a believer. He recently won the IFA Kayak Tour Hopedale event while fishing in 25 mph winds. The Power-Pole made it possible.
It helps to position you for success on the water. “I’m pretty sure most inshore guys in Florida can attest to its effectiveness. Sometimes, I look back on my days before using a Micro, and I can promise you, I’m never going back,” Day said.
