Three in a Row For Southern Comfort at Treasure Cay Billfish Tournament
Abaco, Bahamas — Southern Comfort clinched first place for a third consecutive year at the 32nd Annual Treasure Cay Billfish Tournament (TCBT) June 17-21 at Treasure Cay Beach, Marina & Golf Resort, Abaco, Bahamas. Owned by Peter Angel, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Southern Comfort took the lead on the first day of fishing with a white marlin release. They clinched first place plus Top Angler when Angel released a blue marlin on the second day.
Kim Kuhnle’s team on the Pandemonium, of Treasure Cay, took second place overall, with a blue marlin release by 15-year-old Bly Hoffstetler, of Islamorada, Fla., recipient of the Top Junior Angler trophy.
Southern Comfort also won the Fun Fish Division with an impressive 46.5-pound wahoo caught by Angel.
Known as the best tournament value in the Bahamas, the TCBT is a modified release tournament with three days of fishing, parties and dinners. The tournament raised funds for the Treasure Cay Primary School. Sponsors included Rubis Bahamas Ltd. and Treasure Cay Beach, Marina & Golf Resort. Co-sponsor/official weather provider was Weather Routing Inc. The official fighting chair sponsor was Pompanette.
