November was a great for Smallmouth and Largemouth alike at Tim’s Ford. We had a reliable Jig and top water bite in 10 to 25 FOW. As the drawdown reaches its low level stage this month, the crankbait, jig and finesse baits rigged on spot removers should all produce good fish. While I’m not a big live bait angler, floating creek chubs or Tuffy minnows is another excellent way to catch giant smallmouth on Tim’s Ford in December. Water temperatures will steadily drop to the 54-60 degree range, moving smallmouth and stripers alike to mid lake points and creeks. Concentrate early on main lake points working your way back into pockets a short distance looking for balls of shad on your electronics. Probing deeper points and flats with SPRO Little John DD crankbaits and Tightline Football Head jigs are a great way to locate a monster fish. As a reminder, please wear your PFDs and beware of your surroundings, boating accidents can happen to anyone!
