Torpedo Trolling Products June Tips

Torpedo Fishing Products prides themselves on innovating new products to help improve your trolling spread. They fish Lake Ontario from the Canadian side and always shares fishing concepts with me to share with our readers. Many of Torpedo’s concepts are simple and the understanding of the crustaceans/baitfish/prey relationship is the key to anticipating daily feeding cycles on Lake Ontario. Though Torpedo’s tips can be applied to other fishing applications.

When fishing pre-dawn for salmonoids, create the biggest disturbance possible that represents feeding activity drawing aggressive fish to your spread. Utilize your biggest paddles off your downriggers at this time to create the most fish attracting turbulence.  Fish are no different than other animals. It’s the gull with the bait in his mouth that attracts the other birds. Early morning is when the crustaceans and bait are higher in the water column, the salmon will be aggressive and on the chase, make the disturbance with-in your spread to attract them and trigger that aggressive strike when they are chasing!

Divers generally resist the water at about a 45 degree angle. This is a disturbance that does create aggressive strikes. We like to take it a step further by attaching a Torpedo Diver to the NEW Torpedo Deep Sea Diver which changes the pitch and the force of the diver, which again creates more disturbance triggering those aggressive strikes.

Check out Torpedo’s website to see our Deep Sea Diver page for information about why this diver is unique, how to use it, and depth charts. These and other trolling tactics are shared by the designers at Torpedo and tested by our engineers that “Love to Fish”, on our website at www.torpedodivers.com. Next month we will focus on when fish transition to the ambush mode, until then Tight Lines and try Torpedo Fishing Products!
