South Indian River Fishing Report and Forecast: September 2016

Anglers eagerly await the arrival of the annual fall mullet run. The beaches and rivers will be filled with mullet and you can find lots of predators following the bait this month. Look for tarpon, snook, jacks, bluefish and many other species feeding on the mullet. Top water and suspending lures work fantastic in September. Try a D.O.A. Baitbuster or Big Fish lure while fishing around the large schools of mulletAug 30th, 2016

There is still a good snapper bite around the bridges and along the channel edges and they will be feeding on live shrimp or a small white bait. You will want to use about a 4-foot fluorocarbon leader, a ½- to 1-ounce weight and a #2 long shank hook. The bonito, Spanish mackerel and big jacks will be following the bait school as they come into the Fort Pierce Inlet.Aug 30th, 2016

Fort Pierce Inshore Nearshore Fishing Report and Forecast: August 2016

Trout fishing should be good at places like Bear Point, Pete Stone Creek to the south and Harbor Branch and the Torpey Road area to the north. Try using top water baits like a Zara Spook in natural colors or a Chug Bug in a bright color. Live shrimp, greenies or pilchards fished under a popping cork will be hard to beat for the trout if you can keep it from the big jacks that are roaming the flats.Jul 29th, 2016

South Indian River Fishing Report and Forecast: August 2016

Trout and snapper will continue to be the best bite around the river. Top water lures, like the D.O.A. Airhead, fished early, followed by a D.O.A. shrimp or C.A.L. jerk bait will be productive on the grass flats.Jul 29th, 2016

South Indian River Fishing Report and Forecast: July 2016

Trout will move to deeper flats in two-to-six feet of water and will most likely hit pigfish, D.O.A. shrimp or Deadly Combos. Look for the trout to move to the deeper edges of the flats as the sun warms up the water. Fish the sand holes on the flats! You will find the bigger fish sitting in these holes waiting on the tides to bring the food to them. It has been another banner year for big trout around the area. Jul 8th, 2016
