WALMART FLW TOUR

Bradley Hallman FLW 1st place

WALMART FLW TOUR | February 4-7, 2016

Venue: LAKE OKEECHOBEE

Lake Okeechobee welcomed the Walmart FLW Pro’s with a wild weather ride. During the pre-fish week the weather was warm, sunny and stable. But when the tournament started the tour had just one good day of fishing before everything changed. At the end of Day-1, Bradley Hallman of Norman, Oklahoma secured 1st place with a five-fish weight of 25.0-lbs and never looked back. On Day-2 despite the blustery 25 mph winds of an approaching cold front, Bradley was able to maintain 1st place with another 5-fish limit weighing 25.43-lbs. On Day-3 the cold front had settled in and conditions worsened yet Bradley’s 4-fish bag of 14.18-lbs still kept him in the lead. On the final day, Lake Okeechobee still wasn’t through with putting the Pro’s through the washing machine and though the sun finally came out to warm things up, the Big ‘O’ was still rough and stirred up. On this final day Bradley bought to the scales just two fish weighing a mere 6.5-lbs but that was still enough to secure a 16-fish 71.12-lb final weight and a 1st place finish for a $100,000 pay-day. Though most anglers generally fish the north end of the lake or the Harney Pond area in winter to protect themselves from cold fronts, this year the south- end was holding clear water and that is where Bradley made his stand. During the pre-fish period and the first day of the tournament, good weather kept the bass on the outside edges of the vegetation and you were able to flip large profile baits. As conditions worsened the fish moved deeper into the reeds and by Day-4 you had to downsize your baits and go deep into the reeds to get them. Lake Okeechobee in winter is a never ending ride of changing conditions and this year’s event was a ride to remember.
