Welcome to the Wind, Water, and Waves report from Island Extreme Ventures based out of Rum Cay, Bahamas! Here’s your update on what’s going on now and what to expect. Winter; what winter? Down here in the Out Islands of the Bahamas we have been experiencing warm winds, warm waters, and better yet, warm waves! Mid thru late February and March, chest to head high swell was surfed almost every day, both on short boards and paddleboards alike, as weak cold fronts pushed off the coast of Florida with just enough strength to increase our winds and waves without decreasing our temperatures. As we look forward to April, we expect a warming trend and plan on spending more time on the paddleboards to do some free diving, surfing, and fly fishing. Kites will most likely see less use during these months as spring and summer weather patterns start to take over, decreasing the chances of strong winds.

So whether you are a surfer, diver, kiter or fisherman, now is the perfect time to start planning your trip to the Out Islands of the Bahamas.
