Bass fishing has been very good from sunrise until mid morning. Scattered isolated pad areas that have four to six foot depths are holding solid numbers of three to five pound bass.Expect this trend to continue for some time. Scum frogs and flukes are producing savage topwater strikes. After mid morning these bass are on the move and heading to deeper water or thickest pads they can find- whatever is closer for the bass to swim to. For inexperienced bass anglers observation of your surroundings and the bass that you just caught in the early morning are the keys to staying on the bass throughout the day. Lighter colored bass with an absence of heavy cover nearby are clear indicators these bass are heading to open water 10’-14’ depths. Trolling crank baits that run 4-7’ deep are the perfect choice. Trolling shiners isn’t bad either. When the bass are darker in color and you can see heavy cover within a couple of hundred yards it’s time to head on over to it and get out the flipping stick. This time of the year the bass will bite almost any soft plastic bait you choose to flip. Flipping 1/4 oz to 1/2 oz weights works best with your favorite bait.
Big Specks are being caught on Lake Rosalie after dark on minnows and slip cork rigs in 14’ of water. Run your sets from 9’-12’ deep. You won’t likely catch a limit but what you will catch will be solid 1 1/2-2lb specs. During the day try trolling or long lining.
Big Bream are being caught on the deep grass lines on Brahma Island, Lemon Point and Eagles Nest on Lake Kissimmee.
