As of this writing the aftermath of Hurricane Irma were not known, but you can bet that redfish, trout, snook, and tarpon will be looking for clean water and lots of tasty fingerling mullet to feed on. When you find these two things in the same location, you have a fantastic scenario for catching the previously mentioned species this month. Top water plugs like the 08 or 11-size Skitterwalk are great choices for early morning excursions. Switch to jigs or swim baits later in the day. The Assassin Die Dapper or Boss shiner in either the 3 or 5-inch sizes are very good mullet imitations that will serve you well when targeting reds, snook, and trout. Fish mangroves, drop offs, and docks where mullet schools are present.
