Indian Pass / St. Joe Bay / East Bay Fishing Report: Oct 2013

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]t’s finally fall and October is looking to be another great month for fishing in St. Joe Bay and Apalachicola Bay. The cooler weather and water temperatures will mark an end to the slow summer fishing season. I will be catching Speckled trout, Red fish and flounder this month.

You can find me in St. Joe Bay where the flounder will be moving back in around the canal, jetties and sea wall. I prefer soft plastics over any other lure, so working it slow near the bottom is sure to entice a bite. With an end to scallop season the boating pressure will be gone and the Speckled trout and Red fish will be returning to areas around Black’s Island and Town Beach. If you’re looking for the reds, schools of them will most likely be around Town Beach in front of the old hospital. I recommend using D.O.A. lures and Gold Spoons. If you are looking for trout, use a slow-sinking MirrOlure, while looking in the deep edges and pot holes behind Black’s Island and Town Beach.

In Apalachicola Bay, speckled trout and White trout will be starting to bite. Soft plastics are always my lure of choice as well as Gulps under a popping cork. To find them, try starting in Tree Top, The Platform and Dry Bar. Remember to work your lure with a steady action. Red fish will also be in Indian Lagoon, and you will find them as you work the edges and tidal creeks. Use the Gold Spoons and
D.O.A. lures in this these lagoon waters as well. Good Luck!
