North Eleuthera Dive Report – September 2011

“North Eleuthera diving is tremendously varied with many excellent dive sites.” –Jermaine Kemp.

If you are looking for a great North Eleuthera diving experience during a quiet and peaceful time of the year, September is your best shot. Many of the larger dive operators are closed by mid-September for their annual vacations. However, there are numerous individual operators that are available to guide you to the best locations. The water temperature will slowly start to drop and you can begin to feel the seasonal change. Even the marine life senses the change and become more active. North Eleuthera is tremendously varied with many excellent sites. There is literally something for every level of experience. The best suggestion that I can give if you are planning a trip to North Eleuthera at this time of year is to bring your own gear. By the end of the summer season, rental equipment may be in low supply due to heavy use during the summer dive season. If you are planning a trip on short notice it is best to reconfirm with your selected dive operator to assure their availability. Things can change on short notice here in the Bahamas. Yes, we are at the peak of the hurricane season and staying informed of the tropical situation is very important; however, venturing to the islands during this time of year can provide you great value during this off season time.
