Yahoo…wahoo are back! Wahoo of all sizes are starting to run the walls and ledges off Cape Eleuthera and Tommy Point. They are being reported on both sides of the “Bridge.” The Bridge, to those not familiar with the South Eleuthera offshore area, is the underwater seamount that links Little San Salvador and South Eleuthera near Lighthouse Point Beach. Now that Hurricane Irene has passed, live bait is also starting to push back into the fingers and grottos off No Name Harbor and in the sea basin behind the Cape Eleuthera Island School. This is great news as there is always a strong fall bite from the bottom when the winds begin to shift from the east, to coming in from the north. The cooler air will ramp up the reef fishing and the yellowtail snapper bite from The Wall on an outgoing tide. One of the distinct advantages of fishing off the Cape is the number of fishable days. The Wall is located on the leeward side of the island on the leeward side of a peninsula, offering double wind protection and it is located less than a mile offshore, just minutes from the marina entrance.
