Bimini Inshore Fishing Forecast

With the month of June, Bimini’s summer fishing season begins in earnest. Offshore and inshore waters are getting warmer and warmer, and the bonefish will be cruising the flats with the incoming tide and heading to deeper water as the sun gets higher in the sky. While the schools will be a mix of large and small fish, at low tide and with good conditions, you can sight-fish and find the “big one” you want. Permit fishing will be good to excellent so you may want to target them as well. Recent catches at the point on South Bimini have been great with permit to 42 pounds. If targeting permit, learn to “see” them. You will want to focus on looking for the darker part of their body, the coal black of their forked tails. Also, there will be large mutton snapper on the flats over 15 pounds and they are hungry for shrimp! Weather in June begins to play a role in your fishing schedule as the summer showers and occasional afternoon thunderstorms become more frequent. Looking forward to seeing you in Bimini soon!
