The 2nd annual Generations Junior Angler Tournament was held in Nassau on September 8th. This tournament benefits the Ranfurly Homes for children. It was a huge success with 28 boats registering and 113 junior anglers competing.
The anglers were divided in two age groups, 4 to 12 years old and 13 to 17 years old, and prizes were awarded for the largest jack, grunt, turbot and snapper in each age group. A Top Boat award was also given for the heaviest combined weight for each species.
A great time was had by all, and at the end of the day, it was all about getting families together and taking the kids fishing.
This year there were 20 children from the Ranfurly Home that fished with families. The entry fee was only $50.00 per boat, with the junior anglers receiving free T-shirts, bags and hats from Sun Tee.
The weigh-in was held at the Green Parrot at Hurricane Hole Marina, which treated the participants to free hamburgers and hot dogs. Atlantis Resort’s Ben & Jerry’s set up a tent and served free ice cream, and Caribbean bottling providing the soft drinks.
The tournament committee would like to thank the many sponsors and donors for their support; without them this event would not be possible.
This is an open invitation tournament; everyone is invited to fish. What more could a kid want: a day of fishing with the family and friends ending with free ice cream and prizes!
Congratulations to Team Fish Head for winning top boat.
