Lake Seminole has been on fire for bass fishing lately! It’s been taking right at 30 pounds to win the past several tournaments being held on the lake, with several five fish limits brought in weighing over 20 pounds that didn’t even get a paycheck. In 4 to 6 feet of water, lipless crankbaits have been working really well, such as the Strike King Red-Eye Shad in Chartreuse Sexy Shad worked over main lake flats. In deeper water, bass have been coming from the 10 to 15 feet deep range and hitting crankbaits like the Strike King Series 4 in Chartreuse Shad. They seem to like the chartreuse color when the water is stained. As the lake continues to warm, the bass will move closer to the sandbars and can be taken on plastic lizards and worms like the Strike King Ocho in Green Pumpkin.
There have been several limits of crappie brought across the docks at Wingate’s Lunker Lodge, but no one is sharing their “Honey Holes”, only that they are catching them in the 8 to 10 feet deep range with minnows and jigs.
