North Eleuthera Fishing Report and Forecast: Dec. 2013

NorthEleuthera
For December, the main fish of all will be wahoo. The action has already started to heat up and this speedy fish can be caught at either Dutch Bar, Shallow Ground or Pinnacle Points. The technique is high speed trolling with either artificial lures or lures rigged with ballyhoo. Live bait will work as well, all on conventional reels.

December is also a wonderful month for yellowfin tuna, which you’ll find at the same places using the same bait and tackle as wahoo, but the preferred is live bait, which I sell by the soop or full live bait well.

Nassau grouper season is closed December 1 to February 28 due to spawning season.

The bonefish bite is still strong. I had a recent charter with three anglers and they caught 40 bonefish using spinning rods and feathers. Inshore and on the flats, these will be the top fish to target here in North Eleuthera during December.
