Anyone missing something? You never know what you’re going to come upon while diving in Abaco! PHOTO CREDIT: DIVE ABACO!

May is our favorite month of the entire year! It’s time to put away the wetsuits and dive in to the crystal clear water of Abaco. This is the last time to visit before school is out and the summer rush in on. Weather-wise, it is perfect. Water temperature is on its way up, reaching the ‘warm’, bath water-like temperature of 80 degrees, winds are calm and visibility is endless. Sea life abounds and diving is diverse. Whether you prefer to hover around a coral head and watch the interactions of juvenile and other tropical fish, dive along the mini-wall and look for sharks, turtles, spotted eagle rays, moray eels and crawfish (lobster), or swim though coral-arched alleyways, guided by friendly grouper, while rays of sunlight dance off the white sand sea floor, the reef system of Abaco will meet or exceed your diving and snorkeling expectations. Divers, snorkelers, friends and family can all enjoy the daily excursions together. In many locations, the reef rises to the surface, so snorkelers can watch from above while divers explore below.

If it has been over a year since your last dive and you’ve grown a few barnacles, we encourage you to take a refresher course before diving again. You can take it before or after arriving in Abaco, it does not matter. It will not only benefit you, but fellow divers will appreciate it. You will be more comfortable and confident getting back in the water again, and will be able to enjoy the magnificent underwater world we have to offer.

So pack your bags and set your course for Abaco! We’re looking forward to seeing you!
