Abaco Inshore Fishing Forecast – March 2011

Abaco Inshore Forecast

While flats fishing is great year-round in Abaco, excitement begins to heighten as we turn the corner and head into spring. The longer hours of sunlight contribute to a slight gradual warming of the water. More schools of smaller bonefish will appear on the flats. Bigger fish will be tailing. The change provides for increased opportunity for catching. The gradual warming of the water will also persuade permit to be more widespread, along with tarpon. Barracuda and shark will also make for some sporty action. Best bets on tackle are: 8-weight fly rod and a10-pound test leader, minimum 9-to-10-feet long. Best bets on color for flies are medium tan or pink. For spin casting enthusiasts, a 6-foot rod loaded with 10-pound test line is perfect. Both artificial and live bait will work. Our guides fish the flats of Cherokee, as well as The Marls. Come visit Abaco for some fishing fun!
