America’s First Destination Resort – The Palm Beaches

Movie stars, aristocrats and barons of industry have frolicked on Palm Beach’s golden sands since America’s First Resort Destination® rose to favor in the late 1800s. But you don’t need to be a Rockefeller to have your own “once upon a time” moment here. All those who travel to Palm Beach will find a warm welcome, a tropical breeze and plenty of ways to live a modern-day fairy tale. For the locals, we are lucky enough to experience all that the Palm Beaches have to offer all the time.  But do you?

When was the last time you took a drive through Lion Country Safari?  They’ve done a lot to the place in the last several years, so if you’ve not been there recently, take your next visitors there for a treat.

What about Loggerhead Marinelife Center; when was your last visit there?  They have big expansion plans in the works and are always welcoming visitors to the Center as well as the Juno Pier for some great fishing or private fishing lessons.

This time of year, the Manatee Lagoon is a very special place to visit.  Expect to see the waters loaded with manatees and fish, particularly on a chilly day.  High tide is the best time to visit, with the crystal clear waters coming in from the Gulf Stream making for great visibility.

There are limitless opportunities to enjoy the outdoors and our spectacular Florida sunshine.  We now have two baseball stadiums to enjoy spring training activities. The Winter Equestrian Events and Polo in Wellington are always a unique experience.  Looking to get in the action yourself?  Fishing, diving, snorkeling, paddleboarding, kayaking, spearfishing are all exceptional here.  Visit the Coastal Angler website coastalanglermag.com/palm-beach to find articles on all of these activities from our experienced writers for this month as well as previous months.

With 47 miles of pristine coastline, your only dilemma will be deciding which water activities to choose. Get your pulse racing with a high-speed boat tour, Jet Ski rental or flyboarding experience. Slow things down on a kayak, canoe or stand-up paddleboard in our calm coastal inlets or cypress-shaded inland rivers. Or, join one of our many fishing charters or drift boats and head out to the Gulf Stream in search of the big one (they don’t call this Sailfish Alley for nothing).

Go deeper and explore the third-largest barrier reef system in the world on a snorkeling or diving excursion. Swim alongside sea turtles and tropical fish at Phil Foster Park Snorkel Trail, Peanut Island or Coral Cove Park in Tequesta. Experienced divers can venture further out to underwater caves, historic shipwrecks and even a vintage Rolls-Royce.

There are plenty of ways to play on dry land, too. As Florida’s Golf Capital®, The Palm Beaches boast more than 150 bucket list-worthy golf courses. The National Croquet Center is the world’s largest dedicated croquet facility, while the Palm Beach Gardens Tennis Center offers 18 hydro-grid clay courts for day- and nighttime play. Or explore our hundreds of hiking and biking trails, taking you everywhere from Everglades swamplands to the backyards of Palm Beach’s grandest mansions.

Palm Beach County is bigger than whole states, which means we have lots of room to play. From wild animal encounters to water slides to epic mini-golf courses, you don’t have to be a kid to enjoy the seemingly endless activities and attractions in The Palm Beaches. So, get out there!
