Tarpon Bite Is Going Off Near Cape Canaveral Launch Pad

Within sight of the famous Space Coast’s launch and landing pads the tarpon migration is strong.  The fish are close to the beach feasting on menhaden shad. Now is the beginning of the mullet run too - the silver mullet are just outside the shore break. Tanya Michelle and her son Kason joined Coastal Angler Magazine’s Charlie McCullough recently for some nearshore tarpon action.

With less than a minute to go in the last hour of the last day, Capt. Charles Foreman relied on his vast local knowledge as a charter skipper to put his team on the winning fish. A sailfish vaulted Country Girl to the top of the leaderboard to claim the biggest payout for the 2022 Pirate’s Cove Billfish Tournament.

Trotline Fisherman Catches 104-Pound Mississippi State Record Blue Catfish

Christopher Halley of Brookhaven for catching the new State Trophy Record Blue Catfish. The giant fish weighed 104 pounds and was caught in the Mississippi River near Natchez on a trotline. The fish broke the previous state trophy record Blue Catfish caught by the team of Freddie Parker and Brad Smith in 1997 by three pounds.

Junior Angler Secures the Win in the 2026 Chub Cay Open

Teenager Jack Morino led team Sempre Duro to victory at the 2026 Chub Cay Open, securing both the tournament title and the Junior Angler trophy after a clutch blue marlin release. The 21-boat fleet saw intense competition in the Bahamas, with Gina Lisa and Marlin Brando rounding out the top three. Tournament Director Robert "Fly" Navarro noted excellent conditions for the event, which now leads into the series finale, the Chub Cay Invitational, on April 9–11.
