[dropcap]J[/dropcap]anuary’s here! Happy New Year! As of early December (press time) we’d had a good start to the winter season and we’ll hope to see a continuation of the pattern which sent some decent-sized north swell into the islands with favorable winds. Historically January doesn’t disappoint. Expect swell in the 2-to-8-foot range, mostly from a north to northeast direction as fronts move off the east coast of the United States.

Feel the cold? Well, maybe Santa brought you a new wetsuit top? This month will be a good time to break it in. Expect water temps dipping into the 70s, but day time air temps also usually range into the high 70s, sometimes warmer.

The All Eleuthera Junkanoo rush is scheduled for January 9 in Governor’s Harbour. Settlements from Rock Sound in the south to Gregory Town in the north will vie for the title of best in Eleuthera. It’s one not to be missed as the groups keep growing and producing great costumes, music and dancing. Pray for surf and if you’re traveling to Eleuthera and need a board rental, look us up!
