The Berry Islands is all about “catching” and not just “fishing”. Here are a few recent photos to prove it! Photo credit: Great Harbour Cay.

Great Harbour Cay, located in the Berry Islands, is a very well known as a fishing destination year round. Like most of the Bahamas, the fishing for pelagic species, such as dolphin and tuna, quiets down at this time of the year and attention turns to bottom fishing. The favored species will be yellowtail snapper and an assortment of grouper. SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESBest catches are in 60 to 90 feet of water. My recommended bait would be calamari (squid). When looking for the best locations, I would suggest the reefs located west north-west of the island.

Although it is now the middle of hurricane season, you should not put off a trip to the Berry’s. Great Harbour Cay is well sheltered and the fishing is well worth it.

Everyone in the Berry’s is looking forward to the waters cooling and the annual return of wahoo.
