I really expected the bite to turn on strong on the beach last month and we did have some good days but it was very inconsistent. June should be the start of consistency for Beach and Inlet fishing. Tarpon, Snook Redfish and Jacks should all be a solid bet along the beaches and in the inlet the month of June. Fish the bait Pods from Sebastian inlet north to Melbourne Beach and all the way to Port Canaveral for Tarpon, Sharks and Jacks. Hogy Eels and Rapala XRap 14s will work well on the Tarpon, Jacks and Sharks. Fish the Hogys deep and the XRaps for the fish staying close to the surface. Snook will be in the trough close to the beaches hanging on the bait pods as well. Best bet for the snook is live bait. Greenies, Pinfish and Pigfish rigged on a 6/0 VMC circle hook will all produce snook.Brevard - Capt Glyn AustinJun 1st, 2015
Well itâs SUMMER TIME and the fish are very active. The seas are calming down and the weather is getting warmer. As I am writing this I am having a yellowtail snapper sandwich. Oh so good.Brevard - Capt Douglas KaskaJun 1st, 2015
Summer time has come for central Floridaâs kayak anglers. Look for the fishing to be just as hot as those still and muggy mornings!Capt. AlexJun 1st, 2015
If the water clarity remain as good as it was last month anglers should continue to see an increase in the numbers of trout and redfish that take up residence in the Banana River Lagoon this month. Clean, clear water is what allows the sea grass beds to flourish, and in turn the grass is what holds the shrimp, clams, crabs, and small bait fish that larger predators feed upon. Redfish should be found near docks, rocky areas, and mangrove covered shorelines or islands throughout the Newfound Harbor and 1000 island areas. captjimrossJun 1st, 2015
June in the Lagoon; I love the sound of this. Though itâs middle of the year weâve had to deal with a few weak cold fronts in May and lots-o-wind! At least itâs been a comfortable temperature and the fish have not seemed to mind the blowing all that much.Brevard - Mark WrightJun 1st, 2015
The waters outside of the Port should continue to hold decent numbers of bonito, tarpon, shark, and jack crevalle, plus anglers should see an increase in the number of king mackerel this month. The kings wonât totally abandon the offshore reefs that they have been holding on for the past few months, but we will see a significant increase in the numbers of fish that will start moving into the 20 to 40- foot depths and join the other species that have been here for a while. Anglers will need to start thinking about running wire stinger rigs for the king mackerel. There will be a few fish caught on mono or fluorocarbon âtarponâ style rigs, but the number of cut offs from the mackerel teeth will usually have most anglers switching to wire to avoid this from happening. captjimrossJun 1st, 2015
There is some good news as well as a bit of bad news for this June if fishing the north end of the Indian River is in your plans.Brevard - Mark WrightJun 1st, 2015
Maysâ Surf Fishing was slow with dirty water on many of our Brevard County Beaches. However, I did see good numbers of bait fish caught during the month and that is a good sign that predators are close at hand.Brevard - John DetmerJun 1st, 2015
What a great month we had. Both nearshore and offshore have been providing plenty of action. This month should be pretty much the same. Mahi may be tapering off but that doesnât mean you shouldnât try.Brevard EditionJun 1st, 2015
