I did a little bit of scouting today in the Grant area as well as Sebastian Inlet and the Sebastian River. It started out cold and very windy, but the wind died down mid afternoon and it was just cold.Brevard - Capt Glyn AustinJan 20th, 2014
It’s the time of the year for flounder fishing at Sebastian Inlet. There have been some good fish caught in December, but we have only had a few mild fronts and big numbers of fish haven’t moved through the inlet yet this winter.Brevard - Capt Glyn AustinDec 27th, 2013
We had a warmer than average November but the water temps are cooling off. With the cooler temps in December means we get some cleaner water. The cooler temps also help the flounder bite around the spoil Islands and mangroves from Grant through Micco. Brevard - Capt Glyn AustinNov 25th, 2013
The Mullet run is in full swing and the mullet are starting to move into the Indian River and Banana River Lagoons. With the mullet, come the bluefish, Spanish mackerel and Jack crevalle in big numbers. Brevard - Capt Glyn AustinSep 26th, 2013
The mullet run will help all aspects of fishing both inside and outside Sebastian Inlet. The brightest spot I see in the fishing future is snook. Although the snook population took a hard hit during the freezes of 2010, numbers of snook showed a marked increase in the Sebastian area this summer.Brevard EditionAug 26th, 2013
July in the Sebastian Inlet area is a month of stable weather and predictable fishing. The light winds of summer allow small boat anglers to get out and fish the mouth of Sebastian Inlet and the near coastal Atlantic on a daily basis. Brevard EditionJul 2nd, 2013
The bait in both the Indian River Lagoon and the Banana River lagoons are abundant. The gamefish are mixed in with the bait when you find it.Brevard - Capt Glyn AustinJul 1st, 2013
Summer brings several things that improve the fishing in the central lagoon area, some of which include stable weather, light winds and increased variety and numbers of baitfish. The light winds open new territory to small boat anglers (i.e. the ocean).Brevard EditionJun 4th, 2013
There is a lot of mullet on the flats in the Banana River from the Pineda Causeway up to 528. There are plenty of big trout as well as redfish and snook mixed in. Your best opportunity to hook up with the big fish will be to fish the flats early with a Skitterwalk topwater plug in Bone Chartreuse or live mullet early in the morning around the bait pods.
