This is the 2nd year the white summer shrimp did not bless Daytona with a decent run, matter of fact 2013 is going down in the record books as a "skunk." Daytona produced very few shrimp and the sizes were small.Brevard - Capt LeenogaSep 26th, 2013
The keyboard is silent. Its like a newsroom with no news. July-August summer shrimping was NOT fair to us Central Floridians, and our summer chase is late. In 2012, anglers were squealing with buckets full of delight around the first week of July. Brevard - Capt LeenogaAug 26th, 2013
High temperatures and brown river water seems to be the flavor this season. Lately, It has been of concern if the shrimp are safe for consumption. We all eat seafood at our own risk, but I can tell you FWC has not published any reports with any type of caution about contamination with the brown tide issues.Brevard - Capt LeenogaJul 26th, 2013
You did not hear it from me but the brown winter shrimp are large and in charge in South Brevard County. This is the time of year where walking the planks (standing on piers & bridges) is trending in the Melbourne area. The popular Eau Gallie Bridge (US 192), Mather's Bridge, Pineda Causeway and the Bennet Causeway (SR 528 ) are producing some ginormous shrimp in June. Let me caution you, many bridge shrimpers quit early in the night out of frustration just to find out the gates opened up at o' crack tweet producing a full pull of mammoth size shrimp. A bridge full pull is a very rare accomplishment. When do you go to the bridges?Brevard - Capt LeenogaJul 2nd, 2013
