Bama Red Snapper Season Opens May 24

The season will consist of four-day weekends, Friday through Monday, beginning Friday, May 24, and continue until the private angler quota is projected to be met. Additionally, the entire week that includes Independence Day (July 1-5) will be open for red snapper fishing.

Big Payouts for Big Fish in 2024 Mongo Offshore Challenge

The 5th Annual Mongo Offshore Challenge is set to kick off May 1, with two divisions stretching from Cape Cod, Massachusetts to South Padre Island, Texas. Last year, this unique offshore fishing contest paid out more than $450,000 to winners in the Gulf of Mexico and East Coast Divisions. With no qualifying blue marlin weighed on the East Coast, $62,000 in prize money rolls to 2024.

First-Timer Snags World Record

A first-time paddlefish snagger from Kansas hauled in a new world record while fishing Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks on March 17. On the first day of Missouri’s paddlefish-snagging season, Chad Williams snagged a 164-pound, 13-ounce paddlefish that crushed the previous state record of 140 pounds and outweighed the existing world record by 13 ounces.
