Confessions of a Charter Captain

Well I’ve never been so happy to be so wrong! After telling a guest out on a recent charter that there would be only dolphin and wahoo possibilities this time of year, the look of disappointment was pitiful. He told me of all the places he had fished all over the world and said he loved to catch tuna so much. I figured it would be best to be honest with the visiting angler and told him there weren’t any tuna around Exuma this time of year. Oops! Just before we made our turn to head back home, the long rigger goes off. It’s a decent wahoo. Right! Head down, it doesn’t skip to the surface, so it’s no ‘cuda. Nice wahoo? Nope! Believe it or not, it’s a darn yellow fin tuna. This now explains the funny look on my face! But if you have to be really wrong about anything, this one seems okay. We did also catch a couple nice dolphin and two wahoo that day as well, at least I was kind of right!
