Exuma Fishing Forecast – January 2013

January will be the monster of all seasons…strong bite of both wahoo and mahi-mahi! PHOTO CREDIT: Fish Rowe Charters.

[dropcap]H[/dropcap]ERE WE GO AGAIN!! If the action we had in December is any indication of what January will be like, then this month will be the monster of all seasons. A strong bite of both wahoo and mahi-mahi will only get stronger, bigger and badder as season moves on. The larger wahoo and mahi-mahi should start showing as you read this. Start running your bigger lures and slightly heavier gear, no need for the big stuff just yet, just be ready to tangle with some 40 to 50 pound wahoo and up to 20 pound dolphin Stick with the blue/white on the surface mixed with green/ yellow, and darker colors below the surface. Bottom fishing will continue to stand strong. Lane snapper fishing on the south side will fill most of any finicky anglers desire to catch fish non-stop. As always stay within the limits on the laws. We want them to come back next year. See you down island soon!
