[dropcap]A[/dropcap]August will be the “wind up” for the Exuma Sound area fishing season. Water temperatures will slowly climb, driving the fish north. But while it lasts, get out there and look for the birds. Some nice sized yellowfin tuna will be mixed in with the skipjack and bonito. Small feathers and cedar plugs have worked well so far this summer and should continue to do so.

Blue marlin will still be around. Dragging small tuna have been exceptional baits for the marlin. Big lures have also had some success. Bottom fishing will also slow a bit, but there’s usually plenty of reef fish to make a meal.

September is when I usually do all the maintenance on reels and rods. Strip line, oil this, and grease that! Because Mr. Wahoo will soon be returning and lines will be screaming!
