The water has now reached 85 degrees and although the summer is in full bloom we are still enjoying crystal clear water and spectacular diving. The reefs are alive with marine life. The month is packed with activities and diving for young and old alike; however, by definition, July is Kid’s Month. Children as young as four years old can start experiencing the wonderful beauty of the underwater world. The underwater program for the youngest is the SASY program. Kids learn to “scuba dive” from a floating device that replicates a regulator, but does not allow them to descend under pressure. With this device, they can snorkel on top of a reef. Once they reach eight years, the next program they can sign up for the SEAL program. This is a fun scuba diving introduction with five different Aqua Missions and a lot of new skills learned while playing in the shallow part of the pool. At age 10, they can become Jr. Certified Open Water Divers. Once this certification is completed, they can move onto the Jr. Advanced Open Water. This is usually when they also learn to take their first underwater photographs. All the courses are completed with fun snorkeling adventures, dolphin experiences and environmental education and activities.
This summer ask your local dive store what they have available for your children and truly make diving a family adventure.
