With the winter months upon us here in West End, Grand Bahama the weather has been nasty with frequent days of strong winds and rough seas. The few days that Mother Nature has allowed us to fish during December, we have done very well above Memory Rock up to Matanilla Shoal. We still have not seen too many large wahoo but we have been pulling out 20 to 35 pounders trolling with Ballyhood lures at about 9 to 14 knots. Although there haven’t been any monster wahoo, there sure have been plenty of them. We have seen plenty of dolphin this past month while fishing the ledge for wahoo. I have a strong feeling when the winds calm down during January we are going to see the large 60 pound plus wahoo near Settlement Point and off of Sandy Cay. The dolphin catch should increase but the fish will be relatively small until later in the season.
