Lake Blackshear & Flint River Fishing Report: Feb 2014

by Scott Holland

Weather is the factor. It seems like we have frost one morning and 70 degrees in the afternoon. Try the rocks in Him Creek, Swift Creek and the 280 bridge this month with crankbaits or jerkbaits early in the morning. As the sun warms the day, try these same baits around docks in the back of Swift Creek, Cedar Creek and Spring Creek. Shad colors work best with these baits. If you get a few bites, go back though the same areas with shaky heads or try flipping a jig in green pumpkin colors for a better fish. The shoal bass are biting with some good fish coming out of the south end of the river around Newton on jigs in the dead-water eddies below the shoals. Also try spinnerbaits slow rolled in the same areas.
