Lake Eufaula

Jernigan and Dr. Richard Gresham and Scott Skrien fishing with Capt Sam

by Capt Sam Williams

Water temperature: low 70’s, water level: 189.25, water clarity: heavy stain.

The river level remains up leaving good water under cover which makes punching that cover very productive. When the sun gets up, the baitfish retreat under this cover, panfish and bass will be feeding on them. Be sure and peg your weight to the hook or the bait will separate from the weight and just hang shallow.

The topwater bite is very effective now, and the frog bite is working all day over the thicker cover. Slow down when fishing in the small open pockets. Jigs are doing well on the outside of the cover.

The bream are staging on the flats now. Crappie are getting ready to go to the deep trash piles.

Catfish are always cooperative. Jug fishing with cut bait is fun and keeps the kids from getting bored.

Please visit www.alabamachildrensclassic.org and see the many ways you can support the children and families while they are being treated at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, AL. Kids from all over the world are treated here. Fishermen, join us for the tournament on June 3. God Bless & Good Fishn’
