Lake Seminole Fishing Report – April 2018

Wes Floyd from Crawfordville, FL, with a pair of Seminole studs with guide Paul Tyre.

Hunter Blankenship from Lake City, FL with a nice Seminole bass fishing with guide Paul Tyre.

It’s Lake Seminole’s time to show off! The azaleas are blooming and the bass are bedding. Soft plastics are the way to go this time of year with an emphasis on lizards and worms fished along the sand bars in the lake. A Strike King Rage Tail lizard in junebug is one of my favorites rigged on 17 lb. test fluorocarbon line, with a 3/16- to a 1/4-oz. Strike King Tour Grade tungsten weight. These quality weights are economical and available in a variety of great colors. Another favorite is a 5” Strike King Ocho in green pumpkin color Texas-rigged without a weight fished slowly around Seminole’s numerous sand bars.

Crappie have been biting very well in 6’ to 8’ of water on minnows and grubs. I’ve been using is a Strike King Mr. Crappie grub in black with a chartreuse tail. We’ve been seeing coolers full of big slabs coming across the docks at Wingate’s Lunker Lodge. There will be some good fish fries going on around here for sure.

Big shellcracker are starting to go on beds in 2’ to 4’ of water on sandbars throughout the lake and are being taken on wigglers.
