Lake Sinclair Forecast: Sept 2013

Lake-sinclair
Lake Sinclair is 86 degrees and stained. The shallow bite is really good right now. We have had unseasonably cool, wet weather, which has brought many of the fish back to the shallows. Topwater baits have been really good for both numbers and quality. Start the morning around grass or seawalls with a black Lunker Lure buzzbait or a bream-colored Bass Hound Crankbaits Main Event prop bait made by Kip Carter. Fish these baits for the first few hours for a good chance at a big one. On overcast days, you can be successful on topwater all day. When the sun comes out, it is time to flip docks on the main river and around the mouths of pockets. Docks with brushpiles will be best. Good baits to flip with are the Buckeye Lures Mop Jig and a Texas-rigged Zman Palmetto Bug. Black and blue is the go-to color if the water remains stained, but you should switch to green pumpkin if the water clears up any. In the upcoming weeks, look for an early fall pattern to come into play if the weather stays cool. Shad-colored topwaters, shallow crankbaits and spinnerbaits will be the ticket. Follow the shad into the pockets and creeks for best success. Call Matt Henry to book a guided fishing trip this summer out of Sinclair Marina.
