Mike MacLaren of Lynn Haven, a 30 year member of the Panama City Northside Rotary Club, was the lucky winner of this boat valued at almost $52K! The Emerald Coast Rotary Club pulled out all the stops on this fundraiser and when it was over, Mike was the recipient of that phone call that I and all the other ticket holders wanted to get.
Mike had no expectation to win, he simply bought his ticket because he likes to support local clubs like this one, and all the good work they do locally for special needs children, veterans and the youth exchange. He did, however, know the odds were good with this event because of the limited amount of tickets to be sold.
Mike already has a boat and fishes West Bay often for reds, trout and other fish. The pontoon boat is not his style so he will be selling it. It’s waiting for a new owner down at Legendary Marine in Panama City, so if you’re looking for one, you better call soon; this boat is going at a great price and won’t last long.
The Emerald Coast Rotary Club measures their success in the number of lives touched more than the amount of dollars they raise. This small but very involved group of Rotarians is always looking for new members, so if you’re looking to touch lives and serve others, come on out to Triple J’s any Monday night and have dinner with them and see for yourself what a difference you can make.
