Nassau Inshore Fishing Forecast – October 2011

Scott Farrinton catches a nice bone on a pink Clouser.

The flats around Nassau have recovered fully from the fury of Hurricane Irene. The water is crystal clear again with fish returning to normal behavior, well at least as normal as bonefish can be. October is a great month on the flats with the air turning a bit cooler and the winds still mostly light and variable. We still like the 9-weight rod for the larger fish we have around Nassau and for the chance at a permit. It’s the best all-around stick to bring when headed to New Providence.

For you spin fisherman, this month will be great for schooling fish that are a blast on light tackle. The old adage “if it’s not chartreuse it ain’t no use,” is certainly true for schooling fish on fly or jig. Pink is also an all-time favorite.

Hope to see you this fall in Nassau, Bahamas!
