The fishing is starting to heat up just like the weather. We have been catching nice size “football” blackfin tuna, with some yellowfin in the mix. A few mahi-mahi are still around and it is the time of the year for the billfish to show up. I have already had a few on while fighting a tuna. They came right up behind the baits before I even had a chance to bring in the lines.

June is really the time for the start of tuna fishing in these waters and the signs are looking pretty good. There are many flocks of birds feeding on balls of bait fish that the tuna are feeding on, and marlin are feeding on the small tuna. It is the proverbial “food chain” of the sea. So with the summer weather starting off on a good note, the fishing is looking great for the month of June.

I definitely will be putting my share of tuna on the docks, so let’s get cranking on the Real Deal for a real work out from these rod busters.
