Nassau/New Providence Inshore Fishing Forecast – June 2011

June will bring happy bonefish to the flats around Nassau. The winds are calming down and summer weather setting in. We will see more permit so bring a 10 weight rod.  A crab pattern fly best tied on a number two with dumbbell eyes that will sink the fly quickly is your best bet for permit. For bones, we prefer number 4 shrimp patterns in tan and brown and a 12 pound tippet is a must. Most guests miss out on one of the best game fish on the flats by not bringing a ‘cuda fly. I recommend a needle fish pattern rigged with 18 inches of TyGer wire with a uni-knot on the lead end. This rig will allow you to quickly slip the uni-knot loop over the hook on your bonefish fly increasing your chances at a vicious hook up with the power of a flying torpedo. I promise you it will be a fight you will never forget.

Don’t forget to bring some good foul weather gear to deal with the afternoon showers.

Look forward to seeing you in Nassau.
