North Eleuthera Offshore Fishing Forecast – March 2011

March will bring mahi-mahi among other species.

With the blustery winds of winter behind us now, March is blessed with more calm to light winds, providing less sporty conditions. March will bring nice yellowfin running in the 50-to-80-pound range. They are extremely good fighters and will bend your rod! Next on the list is wahoo patrolling the shallower sides of the wall. Spring also is the harbinger of dolphin moving in among the large weed lines. I’m going to put myself out on a limb and suggest that this year the sailfish may be a bit early. After all, this is a forecast right! Eleuthera is being rediscovered as a fabulous fishing area, so if you are contemplating a visit here, plan well in advance and book early. Local hotels and resorts are more than happy to refer a guide or captain perfectly suited for you and your group.
