These days not a day goes by without some news, good or bad, about the use of unmanned aerial vehicles a.k.a UAVs. Whether the topic is about privacy rights, safety, or national security, conversations can quickly develop into heated arguments over the pros and cons of the use of these aircraft. We’ve all been there before, we’re getting dressed for a night out on the town and you sense something is missing so you put on something extra, you put on some ‘bling’. So why not dress up that plastic worm of yours by adding a small spinner blade to the tail.Okeechobee EditionSep 29th, 2015
It is well known that Florida is home to a wide range of non-native plants and animals. The Burmese python is one of these that has established a foothold.Okeechobee EditionSep 29th, 2015
I know it's been a long hot summer but we're seeing some ducks early this year. Teal have been available early and late in the day along with some nice bass. The problem has been the heat, nobody wants to be out on the lake too long.Capt. Chris ChesleySep 29th, 2015
As summer begins to draw to a close, bass fishing enters a new chapter in south-central Florida and specifically at Lake Istokpoga. Water temperatures in the high 80’s and even the low 90’s in some areas will begin to cool and the baitfish, which seemed to disappear during the summer months will become much more evident in the shallower water as bass begin their seasonal migration, eating everything in sight in preparation for the cooler months ahead and eventually the spawn. My first fishing rod was a hand-me-down from my father back in the 60’s. A 6’, medium action spinning rod, coupled with a Mitchell 300 reel was all I needed to tackle bass, walleye and panfish. Don NortonSep 29th, 2015
Lake Okeechobee is alive and well. Water levels are rising and that is a good thing, but what’s even better is that it is rising slowly. This helps the vegetation to keep up with the water as it rises and doesn’t die off because of higher water. Capt. Eddie PerrySep 29th, 2015
October has arrived here in Florida and that means pumpkins, Halloween, and the start of cooler weather for some much needed relief for bass and man. It has been another very hot summer here in Florida but we have had a good amount of rain and the water level is going to be high enough to get us through the winter and spring.Capt. Mark KingSep 29th, 2015
I wait all year to say this, "Red" October, and yes, I am a big Sean Connery fan. October is the month when the schools of 30 pound plus Red Fish come home to Charlotte Harbor. During this month you’ll find them on the sand bars in front of Bull Bay, Turtle Bay, Jug Creek Shoals, and across over to the burnt store on the east side from Pirate Harbor south to Two Pines. Through-out October you should be seeing massive Reds feeding along the sand bars. Fishin' FranksSep 28th, 2015
Rain, rain, go away!! Hopefully with October here the summer rains will start to subside. This has got to be one of the wettest I’ve seen in a long time. I’m often asked if all this rain affects the fishing. I think the fish in Charlotte Harbor get used to the freshwater but on the other hand it does affect the bait.Capt. Dave StephensSep 28th, 2015
October is my favorite month of the year. The mullet run should be in full effect and well Halloween of course. Using top water plugs and shallow diving jerk baits will work well imitating the mullet. Snook, trout, tarpon and redfish will be working the schools that move in the river.Brian NelliSep 28th, 2015

The Peace River, located in the heart of Florida, is an amazing find. The river is a place that will transport you back in time to the Spanish Explorers. As an explorer myself, I am always on the look-out to go somewhere new and do something different.Misty WellsAug 27th, 2015
Lake Okeechobee has had its ups and downs as of late. We have had dirty water, low water, windy conditions, and all of these can make fishing tough, even on a lake as great as the Big-O. With winds blowing from the south and southeast, the water has become a bit muddy on the north end of the lake.Capt. Eddie PerryAug 26th, 2015
September is here on Lake Okeechobee and the weather is hot and the fishing has been pretty good for summer. The water level has been coming up as the rain continues to fall here in Florida and we can sure use some more north of us.Capt. Mark KingAug 26th, 2015
