Percy Darville Tournament Wrap-Up

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he second annual Percy Darville tournament, a bottom-fishing tournament honoring local legend, Capt. Percy Darville, was held June 28, 2014 at Great Harbour Cay Marina, Berry Islands.  Four boats and a total of 16 anglers participated in the tournament. According to Hans Febles, Great Harbour Cay manager, “The day was a beautiful one—calm seas and light warm breeze—to be out on the water.”

Tournament format was total aggregate weight of 25 fish: 1 grouper, 12 yellow tail, 6 mutton fish and 6 aggregate mangrove snapper, cubera snapper and/or lane snapper.

Prizes were given for best overall ($100 per boat) and a Calcutta for largest snapper ($100 per boat). The boat Petrofied came in second place overall, but won the Calcutta with a 9.5-pound snapper.  First prize went to the boat Out of Control with a total aggregate weight of 37.5 pounds. The Out of Control crew was led by Capt. Robert Johnson and included anglers Rick Johnson and Kurt Weely.
